New Delhi: Vijoy Kumar Singh has been appointed as Government Nominee Director on the Board of NMDC Limited, a Navratna PSU under the Ministry of Steel. Kumar is an Indian Administrative Services (IAS) officer of Punjab cadre. He is currently serving as Additional Secretary & Advisor in the Ministry of Textiles. He has been appointed with effect from March 17, until a regular incumbent joins the post of Financial Advisor in the Ministry of Steel or until further orders, whichever is earlier. The information has been shared by NMDC Limited in a regulatory filing to the stock exchanges.
Singh is an IAS officer of Punjab cadre. He also holds the additional charge of Financial Advisor in the Ministry of Steel. He is a Mechanical Engineering graduate. He has worked in various capacities with the Central as well as the state government. With varied experience spanning over three decades, he has served in different ministries and sectors like Personnel and Training, Textiles, etc. in Finance, Expenditure, Dairy & Agriculture, Irrigation and Flood Control, Law and Justice, Department of Cooperation, Land Revenue Management, Sugar Industry & Cane Development, Food & Civil Supplies, Consumer Affairs, Education, Health, Industry and Commerce, etc, in state.
Kumar has attended several training programmes in various fields, both in India and abroad. He has won several awards namely, President of India Silver Medal Award (the highest census medal) and Certificate of Honour during Census of India, 2001, for doing outstanding work, National Award for 2017 by Election Commission of India for the innovative use of information technology for Election Management and voter facilitation, etc.
NMDC Limited, previously known as National Mineral Development Corporation, is a state-controlled mineral producer. It is owned 72.43 percent by the government and is under the administrative control of the Ministry of Steel. It is involved in the exploration of iron ore, copper, rock phosphate, limestone, dolomite, gypsum, bentonite, magnesite, diamond, tin, tungsten, graphite etc.
