
New Delhi: Yamuna Kumar Chaubey is set to be new Director (Technical) of the NHPC Limited. Chaubey's name has been recommended by a Public Enterprise Selection Board (PESB) panel on Thursday. He is currently serving as Executive Director in the same organisation. He is also in the list of board of Directors of Bundelkhand Saur Urja Limited, a joint venture company of NHPC Limited and Uttar Pradesh New & Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA).
Chaubey has been selected for the NHPC Director from a list of the seven candidates. A total of six candidates who were in the list were from NHPC Limited and another one who was from SJVN Limited.
NHPC Limited, formerly known as National Hydroelectric Power Corporation Limited, was incorporated on November 7, 1975, as central government enterprise for the development of hydropower in central sector. It is a Miniratna PSU under the administrative control of Ministry of Power. Since then the company has become the largest central utility for hydropower development in India. The company is mandated to plan, promote and organise an integrated and efficient development of power in all aspects through conventional and non-conventional sources in India and abroad.
