4.5 cr free LPG cylinders given to Ujjwala beneficiaries in April: Pradhan

New Delhi: In April, around 4.5 crore free LPG cylinders were distributed to Ujjwala beneficiaries across the country under PMUY (Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana), Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan said on Monday during an interaction with audiences via Facebook Live. “In the month of April, 2020 around 4.5 Cr free LPG Cylinders have been distributed to Ujjwala beneficiaries across the country under #pradhanmantrigaribkalyanyojana. This is a big relief for the beneficiaries during #lockdown,” said Pradhan.

The news comes a week after the minister called upon all the stakeholders in the LPG cylinder supply chain to work diligently and in a systematic manner to speedily increase the delivery of free refills to PMUY beneficiaries. Ujjwala beneficiaries are entitled to free cylinders and three free refills. 

‘Corona warriors distributing 50-60 lakh LPG cylinders everyday’

While lauding the delivery men who are delivering LPG cylinders to customers’ doorsteps during the lockdown, Pradhan said, “I salute the #CoronaWarriors of Petroleum Industry who are taking all risks to distribute 50-60 Lakh LPG Cylinders at your doorstep everyday. They move from remote areas to hotspot zones to deliver the cylinder.They are doing a commendable job during this crisis.”

“PMGKY provides three free LPG Cylinders to Ujjwala beneficiaries, Rs 500 to Women Jan Dhan Account holders, Rs 1,500 to construction workers, Rs 1,000 ex-gratia to Old, Widow & Divyangs, 5 KG Rice, 1 KG Dal per month etc during this difficult time,” said Pradhan. “Both Central and State Govt. & People of India stand united in the fight against #COVID19. Let's repel all negative factors,thoughts & perspectives & march ahead with a positive spirit & attitude,” the minister added.
