New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of PVKR Mallikarjuna Rao as Director (Personnel) of Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL), a Coal India Limited's subsidiary company under the Ministry of Coal. According to an order from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Rao has been appointed as Director (Personnel) of BCCL for a period with effect from the date of his assumption of charge of the post on or after June 1, till the date of his superannuation, i.e. July 31, 2022, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. He is currently serving as General Manager of Coal India Limited (CIL).

Mallikarjuna Rao has been appointed as Director (Personnel) of BCCL for a period with effect from the date of his assumption of charge of the post on or after 01.06.2020 till the date of his superannuation, i.e. 31.07.2022, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. 

According to an earlier report of PSU Watch, Rao was recommended for the post of Director (Personnel) of BCCL by a PESB panel on November 4. He was selected for the post from a list of nine candidates, who were interviewed by the selection panel.

Rao is a B. Com (Cost) from Sri Subbaraya and Narayana College, Narasaraopet, Andhra Pradesh. He also holds a post-graduate degree in Industrial Relations and Personnel Management from the Post Graduate Institute Of Developmental Studies. Prior to joining CIL, he was serving as Chief Manager (Personnel) at South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL).

Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) is a subsidiary of Coal India Limited (CIL) with its headquarter in Dhanbad. The company was incorporated in January 1972 to operate coking coal mines (214 in number) operating in the Jharia and Raniganj Coalfields and was taken over by the government on October 16, 1971.
