The first Samvaad lecture in the series will be focussed on 'creative listening' and is meant for PR and Media Professionals

New Delhi: The Public Relations Society of India's (PRSI) Delhi chapter is kickstarting its 'Samvaad' (meaning dialogue) lectures with a lecture by veteran journalist and former BBC India correspondent Mark Tully on Friday. The lecture will be focussed on 'creative listening' and is meant for PR and Media Professionals. The venue for the lecture is SCOPE Convention Centre in New Delhi.

Under 'Knowledge Sharing' series, talks have been initiated for the corporate world both in Delhi–NCR and at other chapters of PRSI. Recent talks have been on subjects such as Organisation a Wheel of Synergy with POWERGRID and a workshop has been held on Corporate Communication with PRSI Bhopal.

"PRSI Delhi has given a new dimension to the event by taking a initiative to invite a legendary figure of the status of Sir William Mark Tully. All PR and Media professionals will surely benefit from the thought-provoking talk of Sir Tully. Even the Society at large will gain from his talk. All former stalwarts and practising professionals will have enough to take away from the talk of this legendary figure," Naresh Kumar, General Manager (Corporate Communications), said.

"At PRSI, Delhi Chapter we had been thinking of engaging ourselves with the society in an interactive manner rather than one-way communication. The in-house brainstorming sessions resulted into this 'Samvad Series,'" GS Bawa, a member of PRSI's Delhi chapter and former General Manager (PR) at Airports Authority of India, said.

"Fortunately, the subject matter is being discussed at a time when 'Samvad' is dominating all around in the form of debates and discussions on various matters be it political, social or economical," he added.

SS Rao, General Manager (Corporate Communications) at Power Finance Corporation, said, "Going by the fact that the talk will be delivered by a legendary journalist like Mark Tully, I am sure it is going to be interesting. The topic of the lecture itself arouses a lot of curiosity. But I am sure Tully will offer a new perspective on the art of listening."

The PRSI is a non-profit national association of PR practitioners which was established in 1958 to promote the recognition of public relations as a profession and to formulate and interpret to the public the objectives and the potentialities of public relations as a strategic management function. The members of the society are public relations practitioners from multinationals, public and private sector, academics and PR consultants.
