MCL celebrated Independence Day with patriotic fervor

New Delhi: 76th Independence Day was celebrated with patriotic fervor at Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) with its Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) OP Singh hoisting the Tricolour at Anand Vihar Grounds at MCL's Corporate Headquarters in Sambalpur on August 15.

The CMD inspected the ceremonial parade and took saluted of marching contingents of smartly-dressed MCL security personnel.

Prominent among others present on the occasion were MCL's Director (Personnel) Keshav Rao, CVO PK Patel, Director (Tech/P&P) Jugal Kumar Borah, Director (Finance) AK Behura, Jagriti Mahila Mandal's President Padmaja Singh along with vice-presidents Sarita Patel and Rashmi Behura.

Greeting the honourable people's representatives from coalfield areas, trade union representatives, officers, staff of MCL and peripheral people, the CMD informed that MCL had been successful in increasing the coal production and despatch during current financial year.

"Coal miners play a pivotal role in providing economic security to the county," Singh said, congratulating the team MCL for excellence in performance and playing a significant role in averting the crisis-like situation due to the increased power demand.

Continuing with its record-breaking spree, Singh said, "MCL's year-on-year growth in coal production and despatch stands at 30 percent and 21 percent respectively and I am confident that the company would continue to perform better and achieve new milestones during the current financial year."

Earlier, MCL's Director(Personnel) Keshav Rao hoisted the national flag at the headquarters' lawns.

On the occasion of independence day, the CMD also presented Special Achievement Awards to seven employees posted at MCL headquarters, which included KB Venu, Chief Manager (Personnel), L&R Dept,  SK Mishra, Chief Manager (Mining), Contract Management Cell, Anil Kumar, Manager (Systems),  CB Smita, Manager (MM), e-procurement Cell, Dr (Ms) Neelima N, Senior Medical Officer, N Sukesh, Dy Mgr (Mining), Innovation Cell, and BP Harijan, Assistant Security Sub-Inspector, Security Department.

Similar Flag hoisting ceremonies were also held at all the Areas and Projects of MCL spread over Sundergarh, Jharsuguda and Angul districts of Odisha.

Meanwhile, the Tricolour were also hoisted by the employees their residential quarters as a part of Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan, to celebrate Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. MCL had distributed about 50,000 national flags under Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan.
