New Delhi: Surpassing its own previous best, National Fertilizers Limited (NFL) has, once again, recorded the highest-ever fertilizer sale of 59.36 lakh metric tonne (MT) during the financial year (FY 2020-21). Despite various challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the company has surpassed its previous best of 57.04 lakh MT, which was achieved during the FY 2019-20. This includes the sale of the company's own Urea, imported Urea and other P&K fertilizers.

"On the production front, the company produced 37.99 lakh MT of urea in its plants recording a capacity utilisation of 117.6 percent despite severe restrictions of COVID-19 and other dispatch-related challenges due to farmers' agitation in Punjab. In the plants, Panipat unit has set a new production record of urea and Bentonite Sulphur and Vijaipur Unit produced highest-ever volume of biofertilizers," the company said in a post on Facebook.

Other than fertilizers, the company registered a steep growth in the sale of seeds and agrochemicals. While the sale of seeds grew by 35 percent when compared to the CPLY at 1,85,550 quintals, the agrochemicals segment registered a growth of 95 percent over the previous year.

Even the sale of Bentonite Sulphur, produced at NFL's Panipat plant, has recorded a huge growth of 150 percent at 19,958 MT against 7,974 MT in CPLY. Also, the industrial product segment performed exceedingly well during the year.
