New Delhi: State-run NTPC Limited said on Thursday informed that Unit-1 (660 MW) of Barh Super Thermal Power Station Stage-I (3×660 MW) will start commercial operation from midnight. Barh Super Thermal Power Station or NTPC Barh is located in Barh in the Indian state of Bihar. The 1,320 MW (2 x 660 MW) Barh Stage-2 built by BHEL is operational. While Barh Stage-1 is being built by Russian firm Technopromexport (TPE).

In a regulatory filing to the stock exchanges the company said, "We wish to inform that Unit-1 (660 MW) of Barh Super Thermal Power Station Stage-I (3×660 MW) is declared on commercial Operation w.e.f. 00:00 Hrs. of November 12, 2021."

With this, the commercial capacity of NTPC and NTPC group will become 54,232.5 MW and 67,657.5 MW respectively.

NTPC Limited is a Maharatna PSU under the Ministry of Power. The company is engaged in the business of the generation of electricity and allied activities.
