New Delhi: To aware employees and stakeholders, an awareness training programme on sexual harassment of women at the workplace (prevention, prohibition and redressal) Act 2013 was organised at the Airports Authority of India's Regional Headquarters, North East Region, Guwahati on Friday.

Inaugurating the programme, AAI's Regional Executive Director Sanmukh Jugani said that this is the subject on which there should be continuous awareness and an annual programme should be arranged where ever possible. Addressing the employees, he urged them to know the provisions and acts under this programme. Equally, women should know about their rights and responsibilities while working at the workplace. The dignity of the female employees must be respected and if any objectionable behaviour is observed, that must be brought to the notice of the committee. AAI is very sensitive towards any such behaviour and has adopted zero tolerance policy towards sexual harassment of women at workplaces, he said.

Guest and the faculty on the occasion Baharun Saikia, Senior Consultant Advocate, Gauhati High Court, was welcomed by Sanmukh Jugani. She delivered a complete lecture on the prevention, prohibition and redressal on the sexual harassment of women at workplace, Act 2013. Different sections of the laws, codes and conduct along with the need of the law, their provisions and legal rights of women were discussed during the training programme.

Women employees along with men equally interacted on several queries they had. Participants from all sections of the departments joined the programme. Employees from the North East region Airports participated through online video link.

The training program ended with vote of thanks from Shri Anand Singh Rawat, Deputy General Manager, AAI (Human Resource) who was the coordinator of the training programme.
