Imphal/Guwahati: The cargo subsidiary of Airports Authority of India (AAI) participated in a conference cum buyer-seller meet that showcased North-East India's prowess in organic agriculture and its potential to grow as a major hub for the export of these organic fruits, vegetables and several other farming based items.
The event was organised by Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) and NERAMAC at Imphal's city convention centre. Sanjeev Jindal, Regional Executive Director, AAI (North Eastern Region) attended the conference along with Airport Director, Imphal, Senthil Valavan and officials from AAI Cargo Logistics and Allied Services Company Limited (AAICLAS). At the conference, Jindal interacted with the sellers at the exhibition centre and apprised them about cargo handling facilities available with AAI.
During the interaction with the participants, it was observed that most of the products exhibited were perishable agricultural products/items. Jindal invited sellers to approach AAI for support and encouraged them to export their cargo by air and also informed sellers that AAI is always ready to extend all possible assistance for the same. Later in the meet, Jindal gave a speech and brought to light the importance and role of Airports Authority of India in facilitating the export of agricultural products particularly from the North Eastern States and India as a whole. On the side-line of the meet, Jindal also interacted with Dr Anup Wadhawan, Secretary (Commerce).
