New Delhi: Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL), a Miniratna Shipping PSU and India's largest shipbuilding and maintenance company, on Tuesday said that it has delivered two Roll on Roll Off (RO-RO) vessels to Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI). In a statement, the shipping PSU said that these vessels are the part of an order for a series of total 10 vessels comprising of eight nos Ro Pax vessels for operation and NW1 and NW2 and the current two nos Ro RO vessels. The delivery protocol has been signed by IWAI (Kochi)'s Director Mathew George and CSL's Director (Operations) Suresh Babu NV  in the presence of the officials of IWAI and CSL.

These vessels are part of the order for a series of total 10 vessels comprising of Eight (08) nos Ro Pax vessels for operation and NW1 & NW2 which were delivered earlier to IWAI and the current 02 nos Ro-Ro vessels for operations in NW3. CSL has invested its resources in the Inland Water Segment including the development of a dedicated shipbuilding facility in Kolkotta, with the aim of providing a complete solution to the customers operating in the Inland water segment.

About the vessels 

The 56 meter long Ro-Ro vessel is built with the in-house design for day and night operation all around the year to carry 15 TEU container trailers and 30 passengers. These high-quality vessels with modern communication equipment, has an ergonomically designed navigational wheelhouse, comfortable air-conditioned accommodation for eight crew and an open deck for easy loading and discharging of trucks and vehicles. The ship is built to the highest standards of the Indian Register of Shipping and Kerala Inland Vessels Rule and complying with the prevention and Control of Pollution and Protection of Inland Water.
