Hyderabad/New Delhi: Dilip Kumar Mohanty has assumed charge as Director (Production) of NMDC Limited on October 5. Prior to this, he was serving as Chief General Manager in the same Navratna PSU under the Ministry of Steel. According to an order issued by the Ministry of Steel on October 5, Mohanty has been appointed to the post with effect from October 5 (i.e. the date of assumption of the charge of the post) till the date of his superannuation (i.e. June 30, 2024) or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Earlier, on July 12, PSU Watch had reported when Mohanty was recommended for the post by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) panel. He was selected for the post from the list of nine candidates, who were interviewed by the selection panel.
Mohanty started his career in Vizag Steel Plant, Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL-VSP) as Management Trainee (Technical) in the year 1987 after completing his B Sc Engineering (Metallurgy) from NIT Rourkela. He has rich and varied experience spanning over 33 years in steel plant operations and projects. He has gained the reputation to solve critical issues in steel making and project executions. During his career in RINL-VSP, he gained vast experience in operations of steel plants including the commissioning of various units.
In the year 2015, Mohanty joined NMDC Limited in the prestigious greenfield 3.0 MTPA NMDC Iron and Steel Plant (NISP) at Nagarnar, Bastar Chhattisgarh. He was in charge of major packages and has played a significant role in the execution of works at the NISP project.
As Chief General Manager (Operations) he has prepared the strategy for the operation of the plant by giving directions to various O&M contracts, AMCs, manpower planning, budgeting, raw materials, spares, consumables etc. which are required for commissioning and operation of NISP, Nagarnar.
