New Delhi: The government has appointed former Petroleum Secretary Tarun Kapoor (Retd IAS:1987:HP) as Adviser to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) in the rank and scale of Secretary to the Government of India, said an official communication on Monday. Initially, the appointment will be valid for a period of two years.

Along with Kapoor, the government has also appointed Hari Ranjan Rao (IAS:1994:MP) and Atish Chandra (IAS:1994:BH) as Additional Secretary, PMO for the balance tenure of their Central deputation. Presently, Rao is working as Administrator, Universal Services Obligation Fund (USOF), Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and Chandra is working as CMD, Food Corporation of India (FCI), Department of Food and Public Distribution.
