Gautam Guha assumes charge as Shareholder Director of PNB

New Delhi: Gautam Guha has assumed office as Shareholder Director of Punjab National Bank (PNB), one of India's largest public-sector banks, on Thursday. He has polled the maximum votes at the Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) of the shareholders, which was held on March 17. He does not have any relation with the existing directors of the bank, said the state-run lender in a regulatory filing to the stock exchanges on Thursday.

Guha, aged 66 years, is a postgraduate in English Literature from Jadavpur University, Kolkata. He has been a member of the Indian Audit & Accounts Service since 1981 and has served in different capacities in the Indian Audit and accounts department, Central ministries and international organisations. He retired from the post of Additional Deputy Comptroller and Auditor General on January 31, 2015.


Guha has 33 years of professional experience in public administration and finance, banking, information technology, accountancy and auditing. He was awarded Prime Minister's Award for 'Excellence in public administration on April 21, 2008, as Team Leader for IT Audit Initiative in the Indian Audit & Accounts Department. He was also nominated by the government to the Central Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.

He has also served as a Part-Time Non-Official Director on the Board of Allahabad Bank from April 25, 2016, to April 24, 2019, and from October 21, 2019, to March 31, 2020.
