Govt appoints Vikram Dev Dutt (IAS) as new CMD of Air India

New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), headed by the Prime Minister on Tuesday has approved the appointment Vikram Dev Dutt (IAS) as Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of Air India Limited. Dutt is a 1993-batch IAS officer of AGMUT cadre. Presently, he is serving as Principal Secretary in the Department of Tourism, Govt of NCT Delhi.

According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Dutt has been appointed to the post in the rank and pay of Additional Secretary.

Dutt is an Engineering Graduate (B Tech in Electronics) and has completed a Post-Graduate Diploma in Business Administration in Organisational Behaviour from the Institute of Management Technology, Ghaziabad. He had been appointed the Principal Secretary in the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Govt of NCT Delhi to help contain the rise in COVID-19 cases in the capital in 2020.

With this new assignment, Dutt will replace the Ministry of Civil Aviation's Secretary Rajiv Bansal (IAS), who has been holding the additional charge of Air India's CMD post since February 2020. Dutt will be serving as CMD of Air India Limited until the Government hands it over to Tata Group.
