New Delhi/Kolkata: Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Limited (GRSE) celebrated 72nd Republic Day at its 61 Park Unit, maintaining all COVID-19 protocols. GRSE's Chairman & Managing Director Rear Admiral VK Saxena, IN (Retd.) hoisted the national flag at the newly built GRSE Bhavan. GRSE's Director (Shipbuilding) Cmde Sanjeev Nayyar, IN (Retd); Director (Personnel) Cmde. PR Hari, IN (Retd); Director (Finance) RK Dash and other senior officials of GRSE were present on the occasion.

Rear Admiral VK Saxena in his welcome address, applauded all officers, workers and CISF personnel for working together to see the company sail through the difficult times during the pandemic. He also stated that despite all challenges, GRSE launched, delivered & commissioned warships. With the delivery of IN LCU L-58 to the Indian Navy on December 31, 2020. GRSE is the only shipyard to have delivered 106 warships to Indian Maritime Forces.

GRSE has achieved other milestones during December 2020 with the launching of 1st Ship of P17A Stealth Frigate "Himgiri" ahead of schedule, Keel Laying of 2nd Survey Vessel Large, and the start production of 1st Ship of eight in the series Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Crafts (ASWSWCs).

He further stated that 2021 started off well for GRSE as the shipyard bagged the export order for one Ocean Going Passenger & Cargo Ferry Vessel for the Republic of Guyana. He concluded his speech stating that GRSE has been in the service of the nation protecting the maritime zones and aiding the land forces with its diversified product profile. Also on the current pandemic which hit the world last year, he expressed hope on the development of the vaccine and mentioned that it is just a matter of time before we overcome the challenging situation at hand.

GRSE continues to sail on a growth trajectory moving towards Industry 4.0 with the incorporation of the latest technologies like Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Data Analytics in its areas of operation to improve internal efficiencies & profit margins.
