New Delhi: The government is implementing a scheme for setting up of 50 solar parks of aggregate capacity of 40,000 MW in the country, Minister for New and Renewable Energy RK Singh told the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday. "These parks are meant to provide developed infrastructure to facilitate installation of solar power projects. Central Financial Assistance of up to Rs 25 Lakh for preparation of Detailed Project Report and Rs 20 Lakh per MW or 30 percent of the project cost, whichever is lower, is provided for development of such Parks under the scheme," Singh told the Upper House of Parliament.
"As on 28.02.2022, the Government have sanctioned 56 solar parks of cumulative 38,266 MW capacity in 15 states in the country, including Andhra Pradesh under the scheme," the minister said.
According to the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), one of the major challenges in the development of solar parks is the acquisition of land. The lands acquired for solar parks are government land, assigned land, SJ lands and patta land. The other change is matching the timelines between development of solar parks including power evacuation arrangements and setting up of solar projects. However, with active involvement of the state governments, SPPDs, SECI, Power Grid, and STUs these challenges are getting addressed. Due to excellent response and more demand of solar parks coming from the states, the Ministry has enhanced the capacity of the scheme from 20,000 MW to 40,000 MW.
