New Delhi: As a countdown to International Yoga Day observed on June 21 every year, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) along with other PSUs celebrated 'Yoga Utsav 2022'. The company followed Union Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri and Minister of State for Petroleum & Natural Gas Rameswar Teli.
Organised by the Ministry of AYUSH and MoPNG, BPCL conducted Yoga sessions at five locations – Kochi Refinery, Uran LPG, Dharwad LPG, Durgapur LPG and Patna LPG. The event saw active participation of people from Refineries, LPG bottling plants, Depots and other service stations of the company. Around 300 employees across BPCL's various offices along with their family members participated in this session. The virtual session was also conducted wherein BPCL CMD Arun Kumar Singh and other senior Directors of the firm participated.
International Yoga Day is celebrated on June 21 every year following its inception in the United Nations General Assembly in 2014 after PM Narendra Modi proposed the idea, which was endorsed by 175 countries.
Other state-run oil marketing companies too celebrated Yoga sessions at 200 locations across the country in which their employees and family members participated in large numbers. The Ministry of AYUSH and the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas have taken up celebrations at various locations to build up to the main event, which will be held on International Yoga Day.
