New Delhi: (PESB recommendation) Sanjay Khanna is set to be the next Director (Refineries) of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), a Maharatna PSU under the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas (MoPNG). He has been recommended for the post by a Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) panel, in a selection meeting held on Friday evening. He is currently serving as Executive Director in the same Maharatna oil PSU.

Khanna has been recommended for the post of Director (Refineries) of BPCL from a list of seven candidates, who were interviewed by the selection panel. There were a total of six candidates, who were on the list were from BPCL and one candidate was from Indian Oil.

Khanna is a chemical engineering graduate from the National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirapalli and a post-graduate in finance management from Mumbai University. He started his carrier as a Graduate Engineer Trainee in 1991 from Mumbai Refinery of BPCL. He also served Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) as General Manager (Technical) for three years.

BPCL is a Maharatna PSU under the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas (MoPNG). The corporation operates two large refineries of the country located in Kochi and Mumbai. The company is India's 2nd largest downstream oil company and is ranked 275th on the Fortune list of the world's biggest corporations as of 2019.
