New Delhi: Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA)'s Additional Secretary Kamran Rizvi (IAS) has been given additional charge of Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of HUDCO, a Miniratna PSU under the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs. He has assumed the office as CMD of HUDCO with effect from October 22. He has been given additional charge of said post for a period of six months with effect from October 22, or till the appointment of the regular incumbent to the post, or until further orders, whichever is the earliest. This information has been shared by the PSU in a regulatory filing to the stock exchange on Friday.
Rizvi is a 1991-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre. He has done his B Tech and M Tech in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Delhi and subsequently joined Indian Civil Services. He has about 28 years of rich experience as a Civil Servant. He has served in various important capacities both in the state and the central governments. In Uttar Pradesh, he has served in important Ministries and departments in various capacities and some remarkable positions include Principal Secretary, Secretary, Development Commissioner, Commissioner, Director General, Chairman-cum-Managing Director and Secretary to the Chief Minister.
Rizvi joined the Ministry of Rural Development, first as Joint Secretary and then elevated to Additional Secretary in the Department of Rural Development and hugely contributed to the World's largest employment program i.e. MGNREGA by using ICT and Innovation. Presently, he is serving as Additional Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.
As CMD of HUDCO, Rizvi is the Chief Executive of the corporation and is accountable to the Board of Directors and the government. He is responsible for all the activities of the corporation including personnel, financial and commercial management, corporate planning and project implementation. He is also responsible for the efficient functioning of the corporation and for achieving its corporate objectives and performance parameters.
HUDCO is a Miniratna PSU under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation. It is the premier techno-financing PSE, in the field of housing and infrastructure development in the country. HUDCO started financing the development of infrastructures in 1989. The priority was given for infrastructure facilities, including projects in the sectors of drainage, electricity, water supply, sewerage, solid waste management and roads in urban areas. Later, social infrastructure components like primary schools and playgrounds, hostels for working women, healthcare centres, police stations and jails, courts received the benefit of funding for a low cost.
