New Delhi: Power sector PSU NHPC Ltd has awarded Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contracts worth Rs 6,604.42 crore for the development of 1,000 MW grid-connected solar PV projects to three companies — Adani Infra (India) Ltd, Tata Power Solar Systems Ltd and a joint venture (JV) of SSEL-ASR. In a regulatory filing to the stock exchanges on Thursday, NHPC said, "… it is to inform that NHPC Limited has awarded EPC Contracts for development of Grid-connected Solar PV Project (1,000 MW Capacity) and transmission line for Power Evacuation to ISTS Sub-Station alongwith Comprehensive O&M for 5 Years under Tranche-Ill of CPSU Scheme Phase-11."
The PSU said that Letters of Award (LoA) have been issued and the projects are to be completed within a period of 18 months. "Letters of Award have been issued to the below mentioned agencies with cumulative contract price of Rs.6604.42 Crore and completion period of 18 months," said NHPC.
Adani Infra (India) Limited has bagged the contract for the highest capacity of 600 MW in the state of Gujarat. The total value of the contract is Rs 4,295.64 crore, said the PSU. Tata Power Solar Systems Limited has been awarded 300 MW capacity solar PV project worth Rs 1,731.57 crore in Rajasthan. And SSEL-ASR JV has bagged the contract for 100 MW capacity project worth Rs 577.21 crore in the state of Andhra Pradesh, said NHPC.
Currently, NHPC's total installed generation capacity stands at 7,071 MW, which includes 100 MW of solar and wind energy-based plants. Another 5,999 of hydro and 105 MW of solar plants are under construction. NHPC is expanding its renewable energy portfolio and has taken up several renewable energy projects under different modes.
