NHPC to develop 10,000 MW renewable energy projects in Rajasthan

New Delhi: NHPC Limited and Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation Limited (RRECL) have signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) for the 'development of 10,000 MW renewable energy (RE) projects/parks in the state of Rajasthan. The LoI was signed in the presence of the Chief Minister of Rajasthan Ashok Gehlot, by NHPC Limited's Director (Technical) YK Chaubey and RRECL's Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) Subodh Agarwal at Jaipur on Tuesday.

Other senior officials from the state government of Rajasthan and NHPC were also present.

NHPC is expanding its renewable energy portfolio and has taken up several renewable energy projects under different modes. The signing of this Letter of Intent and the support of Govt. of Rajasthan will mark a new beginning to develop 10,000 MW renewable energy parks/projects in Rajasthan which would involve huge investments of around Rs 20,000 crore.

Prime Minister in COP-26 had announced that India will go Carbon neutral by 2070 and by 2030 India will generate 500 GW from non-fossil fuel sources which will be 50 percent of total installed capacity and this initiative of NHPC will be a big milestone in this matter.
