New Delhi: National Research Development Corporation (NRDC) has signed a Technology License Agreement for commercialising the process know-how of Geo-polymer based building blocks/ pavers. The agreement was signed with M/s KPS Bricks Industries, Chennai, at CSIR-SERC Campus, Chennai. NRDC is an enterprise of Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, Ministry of Science and Technology and CSIR-Structural Engineering Research Centre (SERC), Chennai. The technology was developed by CSIR-SERC, Chennai.
Geopolymer concretes (GPCs) are a new class of building materials that have emerged as an alternative to the existing concretes. It possesses the potential to revolutionise the building construction industry. The Geopolymer concrete block technology is a low-cost and eco-friendly technology which can be easily commercialised by SMEs. The technology offers high early strength, Portland cement-free binder, no water required for curing, less energy requirement, low carbon footprint with good mechanical and durability properties. The Technology Transfer Licensing Agreement was signed by NRDC Chairman & Managing Director Dr H Purushotham, CSIR-SERC Director Prof Santosh Kapuria and Srimathi from KPS Bricks Industries.
