New Delhi: Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) has signed a memorandum of understanding with National Aluminium Corporation (NALCO) for long term supply of Calcined Petroleum Coke to the aluminium giant on September 24. Under this MoU NRL will supply Calcined Petroleum Coke to NALCO for a period of five years with an annual sale of 40,000 MT. NRL produces around 70~75 TMT of anode grade quality Calcined Petroleum Coke every year with sulphur content less than 3.0 per cent. The MoU has been signed between the two organisations in presence of NALCO's Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) Patra and NRL's Managing Director SK Barua at Bhubaneswar. This information was given the aluminium PSU in a tweet on September 24.
National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO), incorporated in 1981, is a Navratna PSU, having integrated and diversified operations in mining, metal and power under the Ministry of Mines. It is one of the largest integrated Bauxite-Alumina-Aluminium-Power complexes in the country, encompassing bauxite mining, alumina refining, aluminium smelting and casting, power generation, rail and port operations.
Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NFL)
Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NFL) is a joint venture company between Bharat Petroleum (61.65 percent), Oil India (26 percent) and the state govt of Assam (12.35 percent), which is located in Golaghat district, Assam. The present authorized capital of the company is Rs 1,000 crore and paid up capital is Rs 735.63 crores. In January 2019, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs approved plans to increase the refinery's capacity to 9 million metric tonnes per year. The company produces various products including LPG, Naphtha, Motor Spirit (MS), Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) Superior Kerosene Oil ( SKO) High-Speed Diesel (HSD), Raw Petroleum Coke ( RPC ) Calcined Petroleum Coke ( CPC), Sulphur, Wax, Nitrogen, Mineral Turpentine Oil (MTO), Special Boiling Point Spirit (SBPS) and Liquid Sulphur.
