New Delhi: Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) has invited bids for the authorisation of 1 MMTPA Ennore – Madurai LPG pipeline. In a notification released on April 1, PNGRB said, "Online Application-cum-Bid is invited on single stage two bid system by Petroleum & Natural Gas Regulatory Board, New Delhi, from the interested and eligible entities for authorisation of Ennore – Madurai Petroleum and Petroleum Products (LPG) Pipeline spanning about 526 km with an initial system capacity of at least 1 MMTPA including common carrier capacity."
The bid submission for the LPG pipeline starts on April 4. "The Application-cum-Bid document for the above pipeline can be downloaded and subsequently bid can be submitted at Central Public Procurement Portal (CPPP) website https://eprocure.gov.in/eprocure/app as per the schedule given in tender document," said the PNGRB.
A pre-bid conference for interested bidders of Ennore–Madurai LPG pipeline will be organised by PNGRB on May 6. The bids are to be submitted by August 2 and the technical bid opening date is August 5.
LPG pipelines are laid from refineries to LPG bottling plants usually situated outside the city limits. PNGRB is the authority to grant authorisation for laying of LPG pipelines. Entities that propose to lay, build, operate or expand a pipeline apply to the Board for obtaining an authorisation under this Act.
A 615-km-long pipeline is already in place between Ennore, Trichy and Madurai. It is operated by India's largest fuel retailer Indian Oil Corporation (IOC).
