New Delhi: Ram Naresh Singh is the new Chairman of Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) as has assumed charge of the post on Wednesday. Prior to taking over this responsibility, Singh was serving as Executive Director in Power Grid. Earlier, NTPC Limited's CMD Gurdeep Singh was holding the additional charge as Chairman of DVC. According to an earlier order from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), he has been appointed as Chairman of DVC till July 31, i.e. the date of his superannuation, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Singh is an Engineering Graduate (B Tech) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from BIT Sindri. Prior to joining Power Grid in August 1991, he was serving as Senior Engineer in NTPC Limited. He has over three decades of rich experience in multifarious areas across the value chain of the Indian power sector.

Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) is a PSU that operates in the Damodar River area of West Bengal and Jharkhand. The corporation operates both thermal power stations and hydel power stations under the Ministry of Power. DVC is headquartered in the city of Kolkata, West Bengal.
