S Sakthimani is new Director (Finance) of FACT Limited

• Sakthimani s currently serving as Director (Finance) of Cement Corporation of India Limited (CCI)

New Delhi: S Sakthimani is new Director (Finance) of Fertilizers & Chemicals Travancore Limited (FACT), a PSU under the Department of Fertilizers, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved his appointment on Monday. According to a DoPT order, Sakthimani has been appointed to the post for a period of five years with effect from the date of assumption of the charge of the post, or till the date of his superannuation, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. He is currently serving as Director (Finance) of Cement Corporation of India Limited (CCI). With his new assignment, Sakthimani will replace A Ganesan, who has been working in the same capacity since August 28, 2019.

Earlier, PSU Watch had reported that Sakthimani was recommended for the post of Director (Finance) of FACT Limited by a PESB panel on February 19. He was selected from a list of three candidates, who were interviewed by the selection panel.

Education & background

Sakthimani is a Bachelor of Science (B Sc in Metallurgy) from National Institute of Technology (NIT), Jamshedpur, and holds a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Madras. In addition to this, he is a qualified Cost and Management Accountant from the Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India (ICWAI). Sakthimani's hands-on experience varies from core R&D to corporate board. He has experience in strategic planning, finance & accounts, corporate affairs, operations, quality assurance and auditing. He also worked for the implementation of ISO systems in financial management and personnel management with inbuilt controls. Prior to joining CCI Limited, he had worked with Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), Usha Martin and Tata Steel Limited.

The Fertilisers and Chemicals Travancore Limited (FACT) is a fertiliser and chemical manufacturing company headquartered in Kochi, Kerala. The company was incorporated in 1943 by Maharajah Sree Chithira Thirunal Balarama Varma of Travancore Kingdom. FACT is the first fertiliser manufacturing company in independent India and also the largest Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) in the state of Kerala.
