Santosa Kumar Pal assumes charge as Director (Technical) of SECL

New Delhi: Santosa Kumar Pal has assumed charge as Director (Technical) of South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), a Coal India subsidiary and Miniratna PSU under the Ministry of Coal, on Tuesday. Prior to assuming this responsibility, he was serving as Regional General Manager of Gerva and Korba Region of SECL. He has over 35 years of work experience in the coal mining sector. With this, Pal has replaced Ravindra Kumar Nigam, who superannuated on November 1.

Earlier, PSU Watch had reported that Pal was recommended for the post of Director (Technical) of SECL by the PESB panel on July 2015. He was selected for the post from the list of nine candidates who were interviewed by the selection panel. As Director (Technical) of SECL, Pal is responsible for the operation of mines and also field activities, technical functions, and safety of mines.

South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL)

SECL is the largest coal-producing company in India. It is a "Miniratna" company and one of eight fully-owned subsidiaries of Coal India Limited. The company has its headquarter at Bilaspur (Chhattisgarh) and has 92 mines spread over Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh; 70 underground, 21 opencast, and 1 mixed. It is a schedule 'B' Mini Ratna CPSE of coal and lignite.
