New Delhi: Shyam Murari Choudhary has taken over additional charge as Director (Finance) of Western Coalfields Limited (WCL), a Mini-Ratna PSU under the Ministry of Coal. He is currently serving as Director (Finance) in South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL). Prior to joining SECL Board, Choudhary was serving as Director (Finance) in WCL. He was recommended for the SECL's Director (Finance) role by the PESB panel in July 2019. Previously, he had served as General Manager (in-charge) of Coal India Limited (CIL).
Choudhary has been assigned with the additional charge of WCL's Director (Finance) post after the post fell vacant on January 1. Earlier, Rajendra Prasad Shukla was serving as Director (Finance) of WCL since August 1, 2020.
Choudhary is a qualified Chartered Accountant and Cost and Management Accountant. He has also completed a certified course on IFRS and Indirect Taxes from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI). He started his career with Central Coalfields Limited (CCL).
Choudhary has been honoured with various awards for his outstanding work. He has been honoured with the Special Achievement Award by Coal India and Best CFO Award in PSU Category by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, Mumbai for his unique financial planning formalities related to the mines closure plan.
