NCL plans to observe ‘Van Mahotsav’ in the third-week of July

New Delhi: Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL), a Miniratna PSU under the Ministry of Coal, will observe the 'Van Mahotsav' in the third week of July. As a commitment towards environmental protection, promotion and conservation, NCL is working on a comprehensive strategy of large scale tree plantation, distribution of fruitful and shady plants to villagers, and other related activities during "Van Mahotsav Week" in a planned manner.

These activities will be done in all the projects of Northern Coalfields Limited, located in Singrauli and Sonbhadra district of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh respectively.

In a slew of planned activities, it has been also decided to lay the foundation of eco-parks in selected projects amid Van Mahotsav Week, where recreational facilities will be developed along with conserving their natural beauty.

Notably, saplings of various types for plantation & distributions during the Van Mahotsav, are being provided by Renukoot Forest Department (UP) and Madhya Pradesh Rajya Van Vikas Nigam.

NCL has put enormous efforts to ensure eco-friendly Mining practices along with the conservation of indigenous Flora and Fauna to maintain the Bio-Diversity. NCL is continuously planting Fruitful Trees entailing shady and medicinal properties with the coordination of the Forest Department of concerned States.

As for as plantation is concerned, NCL has planted a total of 2 crores 43 lakh saplings so far and 4.64 lakh saplings will be scheduled to be planted in the year 2020.
It is worth noting that all the subsidiaries of Coal India are organizing 'Van Mahotsav Week' as per the instructions of the Ministry of Coal.
