COVID-19: NCL provides financial assistance of Rs 90 lakh to Sonbhadra

New Delhi: Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL) has provided financial assistance of Rs 90 lakh to the District Administration of Sonebhadra (UP) under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives for procurement of medical equipment to strengthen the health infra and contain the spread of COVID-19 in the district. NCL's General Manager (CSR) AK Singh handed over the cheque to the District Magistrate of Sonbhdra District Abhishek Singh on Wednesday.

The fund will be mainly utilized for the purchase of essential medical equipment such as pulse oximeter, thermal scanner, oxygen flowmeter, portable x-ray machine, CBC machine, auto analyzer along with PPE kits, masks, and sanitisers.

Previously, NCL had given Rs 5 crore to the UP government for procurement of 50 ambulances, during the pandemic triggered lockdown massive distribution of ration kits was done to the needy people. NCL is also establishing an oxygen plant in its Atal Hospital Bina in Sonbhadra District. NCL spent about Rs 32 crore in the last fiscal towards CSR activities in Uttar Pradesh state, most of which were in Sonbhadra district only.

NCL is the Miniratna PSU under the Ministry of Coal producing coal from its 10 highly mechanized mines in Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh state.
