NDMC will procure 150 MW of solar power from SJVN’s CPSU scheme projects

• IREDA has floated a tender for setting up 5,000 MW of grid-connected solar power projects in India (Tranche III) under the CPSU scheme
• SJVN plans to participate in this upcoming bidding opportunity for 1,000 MW

New Delhi: State-run SJVN Ltd has announced that New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) has give its in-principle approval to procure 150 MW of solar power at Rs 2.44/kWh from the projects that SJVN bids for and develops under the Central Public Sector Undertaking (CPSU) scheme. In a regulatory filing to the stock exchanges on Tuesday, SJVN said, "… this is to inform you that NDMC (New Delhi Municipal Corporation) has conveyed it's in principle approval to SJVN to procure 150 MW of Solar Power from SJVN @ Rs. 2.44/kWh for 25 years under CPSU scheme."

SJVN to bid for 1,000 MW capacity under CPSU scheme

The Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA) has floated a tender for 5,000 MW of grid-connected solar power projects in India (Tranche III) under the Central Public Sector Undertaking (CPSU) scheme (Phase II) of grid-connected projects for self-use or use by government entities. It has maximum permissible limit for the viability gap funding (VGF) at Rs 55 lakh/MW for the projects. "SJVN plans to participate in this upcoming bidding opportunity for 1000 MW and has tied up with NDMC for procurement for power from its Solar Projects," said SJVN.

The backdrop

SJVN aims to become a 25,000 MW company by 2040. The power PSU has recently entered into an MoU with the National Institute of Wind Energy (NIWE) for Technical Consultancy Services for the development of solar, wind, hybrid (wind & solar) and hybrid (wind, solar and battery storage) energy projects of SJVN. NIWE will support SJVN to assess the feasibility and techno-commercial aspects of solar, wind, hybrid (wind and solar) and hybrid (wind, solar & battery storage) energy projects and preparation of detailed project reports, estimates and bid documents covering all relevant aspects from concept to commissioning of these projects of SJVN.
