New Delhi: The Union Minister of Home Affairs and Cooperation Amit Shah will dedicate a sulphuric acid plant set up by Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO) at its Paradip facility during his visit to Odisha on March 6. He will also launc a series of initiatives aimed at strengthening the cooperative sector, dairy development and administrative infrastructure.

The sulphuric acid plant (SAP-III) at IFFCO’s Paradip unit will be dedicated to the nation at a function in Paradip. The initiative is part of broader efforts to boost cooperative-led development in line with the vision of “Sahkar se Samriddhi” articulated by Narendra Modi.

Later in the day, Shah will inaugurate and launch several cooperative sector initiatives at the IDCO Exhibition Ground, Unit-III in Bhubaneswar. The programme will include the release of the State Cooperative Policy and the signing of multiple memoranda of understanding (MoUs), including one for establishing a school under Tribhuvan Cooperative University and another for the revival of Badamba Sugar Industries.

As part of efforts to strengthen grassroots cooperative infrastructure, the Union Minister will dedicate 1,567 Common Service Centres operated by PACS/LAMPS. The programme will also feature the virtual inauguration of need-based infrastructure for 141 Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) and the launch of the Registrar of Cooperative Societies (RCS) Office Portal.

Several digital initiatives will also be introduced during the event. These include the launch of a Direct-to-Consumer (D2C) portal by National Cooperative Organics Limited, the introduction of “Coop Marque” developed by National Cooperative Exports Limited, and the unveiling of “Savidya”, an AI-enabled multilingual digital learning platform.

The programme will also highlight initiatives aimed at strengthening the dairy sector through Odisha State Cooperative Milk Producers' Federation Limited (OMFED). Registration certificates will be distributed to two milk producer cooperative societies, while grants will be released to beneficiaries under the Chief Minister Kamdhenu Yojana.

In addition, an MoU will be signed with National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) for the upgradation of a Training and Demonstration Centre to support dairy sector capacity building.

According to the government, a video presentation showcasing projects across multiple departments will also be screened during the event. In total, 69 projects worth Rs 1,159.03 crore will be inaugurated, while foundation stones will be laid for 130 projects valued at Rs 2,116.06 crore.
