New Delhi: Days after a fire broke out at state-run Indian Oil Corporation’s (IOC) Vadodara Refinery in Gujarat, another fire broke out at Indian Oil’s Mathura Refinery on November 12, in which eight people sustained injuries. “At approximately 7:00 p.m. on November 12, 2024, a fire occurred at Indian Oil’s Mathura Refinery during the start-up of the Crude Distillation Unit following a planned maintenance shutdown. The fire was promptly extinguished, and refinery operations remain unaffected,” said IOC in a regulatory filing to the stock exchanges.
Sources said that those injured have sustained minor injuries and no casualties have been reported. “Eight personnel sustained burn injuries as a result of the incident. Three of the injured have been admitted to Apollo Hospital, Delhi, while the others are receiving medical care locally. All injured individuals are stable, and their recovery is being closely monitored,” said Indian Oil in a statement.
“The plant and machinery have not suffered any damage, and refinery activities are continuing as usual. A thorough investigation is underway to determine the cause of the incident. Indian Oil remains committed to the highest standards of safety and will provide further updates as needed,” Indian Oil said.
