The meeting was chaired by BCCL Chairman-cum-Managing Director Manoj Kumar Agarwal and witnessed participation from coal traders, representatives of various industrial sectors and consumers, who shared their suggestions and feedback during the interaction.

Among those present on the occasion were Director (Human Resources) Murli Krishna Ramaiah, Director (Technical-Operations) Sanjay Kumar Singh, Director (Finance) Rajesh Kumar and General Manager (Marketing & Sales) Hitesh Verma. General Managers from various areas, Area Sales Officers and officials from the Marketing & Sales Department at the headquarters also attended the meeting.

Welcoming the participants, Verma emphasised the importance of such interactions in strengthening coordination with consumers. He said direct engagement enables the company to better understand consumer expectations and improve arrangements related to coal supply, quality and dispatch.

Addressing the gathering, Agarwal reaffirmed BCCL’s commitment to safeguarding the interests of its consumers and stakeholders. He stressed that ensuring quality coal supply, transparency and timely dispatch remain key priorities for the company. He also assured participants that BCCL continues to work towards improving facilities in line with consumer requirements.

During the meeting, BCCL shared information about various provisions, facilities and promotional initiatives available to consumers. The company said that while power sector consumers remain a major segment, efforts are being made to expand the consumer base and enhance coal dispatch to NRS linkage and auction consumers.

To encourage NRS consumers, BCCL has been offering substantial coal quantities under the NRS Linkage Auction. In the recently conducted Tranche-IX, around 20 million tonnes of coal were offered for various sectors. Discussions were also held on measures to encourage greater participation from the steel sector.

In a bid to maintain competitiveness, BCCL has introduced a cash discount scheme for coal lifted under the e-auction mechanism. The scheme offers discounts ranging from ₹100 to ₹600 per tonne depending on the quantity lifted. The discount is calculated based on billed quantity or the number of rakes and is adjusted during final settlement after completion of coal lifting.

The meeting also focused on measures to streamline coal lifting and ensure timely dispatch. BCCL informed that all operational areas are ensuring prompt issuance of quotas and allotments to avoid delays. Coordination has also been established with the district administration and the District Mining Officer in Dhanbad to expedite approval of mining challan permits, which are now being processed within two to three days. Additionally, a wallet system has been introduced to facilitate faster permit approvals.

They are also addressing operational challenges faced by consumers during coal lifting, including those arising from local law-and-order situations.

The Directors present on the occasion reiterated the company’s commitment to maintaining high standards in coal production, quality control and dispatch management. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks and a renewed resolve to enhance coal dispatch, particularly to the steel sector.
