New Delhi: Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) has signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with SASMOS HET Technologies Ltd to collaborate on advanced defence technologies, strengthening India’s push for self-reliance in the sector.
The MoU, signed on February 16, was exchanged between BEL's Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) Manoj Jain and SASMOS Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) H.G. Chandrashekar in the presence of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Defence Production Secretary Sanjeev Kumar.
The partnership aligns with the Government of India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative and will focus on co-development and indigenisation across key domains such as fibre optics and photonics, tank electronics, naval systems and airborne platforms.
BEL said the collaboration aims to enhance India’s aerospace and defence capabilities while also expanding export potential for indigenous products and systems.
“This MoU marks a significant step in strengthening India’s defence ecosystem. By combining BEL’s expertise in defence electronics with SASMOS’s capabilities in fibre optics and photonics, we aim to deliver cutting-edge indigenous solutions for both domestic and global markets,” said Manoj Jain.
Echoing similar views, Chandrashekar said the partnership would accelerate innovation and contribute to India’s long-term vision of self-reliance and Viksit Bharat 2047.
BEL, a Navratna defence public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Defence, is engaged in the design and manufacture of advanced defence systems, including radars, communication equipment, electronic warfare systems and avionics. SASMOS, on the other hand, specialises in mission-critical interconnection systems, electronics and fibre optics solutions for aerospace and defence applications, serving both Indian and global original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
