New Delhi/Visakhapatnam: A major logistics modernisation initiative moved forward today with the formal exchange of a Quadripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at developing a Real-Time Automatic Cargo Evacuation System at Machilipatnam Port. The MoU, initially signed on November 9, was officially exchanged during the Partnership Summit 2025 in Visakhapatnam.
The agreement brings together BEML Ltd, Andhra Pradesh Maritime Board (APMB), Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and Umeandus Technologies India Pvt. Ltd. (UTIPL), who will collaborate as a Port Alliance to conceptualise, design and implement the proposed Enhanced Freight Transport System (e-FTS). Under the arrangement, APMB will serve as the client, while DMRC, acting as the lead member, along with BEML and UTIPL, will jointly execute the pilot project.
The e-FTS solution is envisioned as a technologically advanced system that will automate cargo movement, enable real-time monitoring and significantly improve handling efficiency at Machilipatnam Port. The initiative is expected to strengthen port operations, reduce turnaround time and position the port as a future-ready maritime logistics hub.
