New Delhi: State-owned Bharat Heavy Electrical Limited (BHEL) informed stock exchanges on Tuesday that "the BHEL-led consortium has won an order for supplying 80 Vande Bharat trains in the mega tender of Indian Railways."

Terms & conditions of the agreement

Highlighting the terms and conditions, the company said in a regulatory filing that BHEL is the lead member of the Consortium of BHEL and Titagarh Wagons Limited. The consortium is called a Technology Partner. As per the agreement, the BHEL-led consortium has "to supply 80 Sleeper class Vande Bharat Trains and undertake comprehensive maintenance of the same for 35 years." Further, it noted that the consortium will also take care of equipping, upgrading, operating, and maintaining the exclusive place provided in the Manufacturing Unit at ICF Chennai and two depots assigned by Indian Railways.

Time period and size of order

The filing also noted that the consortium needs to supply 80 Vande Bharat trains in 72 months. Commenting on the size of order, it said, "Order has been given to supply 80 Trains at the rate of Rs 120 crores per train (excluding taxes and duties) and additional order for AMC has also been placed for 35 years."
