BPCL awards 2 major contracts to Technip Energies for Bina and Mumbai Refineries

New Delhi: Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) has awarded two large contracts to Technip Energies for setting up new processing units at its Bina refinery in Madhya Pradesh and Mumbai refinery in Maharashtra, the company said in a statement.

At the Bina refinery, BPCL has awarded an EPCC contract for the installation of new polypropylene and Butene-1 units with capacities of 550 KTPA and 50 KTPA, respectively. The project forms part of BPCL’s Bina Petrochemical and Refinery Expansion Project, aimed at enhancing refining capacity and expanding downstream petrochemical operations.

Separately, BPCL has awarded an engineering, procurement and construction management (EPsCm) contract for a 3 MMTPA Petro Resid Fluidized Catalytic Cracker (PRFCC) unit at the Mumbai refinery. This will be India’s first PRFCC unit, enabling conversion of heavy refinery residues into lighter, high-value products.

The contracts further strengthen the long-standing collaboration between BPCL and Technip Energies, which has been operating in India for over five decades.
