New Delhi: In a significant push towards green energy, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) has awarded contracts for the development of 100 MW of wind power projects. The move marks a major step in the company’s transition toward renewable energy and its goal of becoming a Net Zero energy company by 2040.

The contracts have been awarded for two 50 MW wind power projects—one each in Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. Suzlon Energy Limited will develop the project in Madhya Pradesh, while Integrum Energy Infrastructure Limited will execute the project in Maharashtra. Both projects are expected to be completed and commissioned within the next two years.

The wind farms will be used to meet the captive energy requirements of BPCL’s key refining operations—the Mumbai Refinery and the Bina Refinery—by substituting conventional fossil-based electricity with clean, renewable wind energy.

This initiative is part of BPCL’s broader Renewable Energy roadmap, which targets an ambitious 10 GW renewable energy portfolio by 2040. The company is aiming to achieve Net Zero emissions in Scope 1 and Scope 2 categories by the same year.
