The announcement was made at an award ceremony held at the ICC headquarters in Paris. The Corporate Startup Stars Awards 2025 identified 100 companies from the Forbes Global 2000 and Fortune Global 500 lists for their efforts in promoting open innovation, engaging with startup ecosystems and supporting new technology development.

BPCL's Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) Sanjay Khanna, said the recognition underscores the company’s long-term innovation strategy. “This global accolade is a testament to Bharat Petroleum’s commitment to building an open innovation ecosystem that fosters entrepreneurship in the country,” he said. Khanna added that BPCL’s startup initiative, *Ankur*, is helping develop “cleaner, smarter and more sustainable” energy solutions, aligned with India’s energy transition goals as the company marks its 50th year.

Launched in 2016, Ankur has supported 30 startups working in areas such as robotics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, industrial IoT, predictive maintenance, safety technologies and asset integrity. BPCL has also set up the BPCL Ankur Fund to invest in promising early-stage companies aligned with its strategic priorities.
