New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a disproportionate assets case against former WAPCOS CMD Rajinder Kumar Gupta on Tuesday and has seized Rs 20 crore after conducting searches across 19 locations. “The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered a case against former CMD, Water and Power Consultancy Services (India) Limited (WAPCOS, a Govt of India Undertaking under Ministry of Jal Shakti) and his family members on the allegations that the accused during the tenure from 01.04.2011 to 31.03.2019 had possessed disproportionate assets way beyond his known sources of income,” said the CBI.
The CBI said that the former CMD of WAPCOS had started a private consultancy business in Delhi after retiring from service. “The alleged immovable properties belonging to the accused include flats, commercial properties & a farm house spread across Delhi, Gurugram, Panchkula, Sonipat and Chandigarh,” the investigation agency added.
After conducting searches at 19 locations across Delhi, Gurugram, Chandigarh, Sonipat and Ghaziabad on Tuesday at the premises of the former WAPCOS CMD, the CBI found “huge cash of Rs 20 crore (approximately), large quantity of jewellery, valuable items and incriminating documents.”
The investigation in the case is on, said the CBI.
