

New Delhi: Coal India Limited's (CIL) Chairman B Sairam visited the Rajmahal Area of Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL) to review mining operations and assess the progress of key operational activities.
The ECL Chairman & Managing Director (CMD), Satish Jha, welcomed Sairam, who was accompanied by senior ECL officials, including Chitranjan Kumar, Director (Technical/Operations), ECL, and Arupa Nanda Nayak, General Manager, Rajmahal Area, along with other senior officials.

During the visit, the Chairman undertook a field visit to Rajmahal Open Cast Project (OCP) and Hurra ‘C’ OCP, where he reviewed ongoing mining operations and took stock of operational performance and activities at the projects.
The visit focused on strengthening operational efficiency, safety, productivity and sustainable mining practices, with particular emphasis on maintaining sustained coal production and addressing operational challenges at the field level.

As part of the visit, the Chairman also participated in a plantation programme at Urjanagar, reaffirming CIL and ECL’s commitment towards environmental sustainability, ecological conservation and responsible mining.
A review meeting was subsequently held with senior officials of ECL and the Rajmahal Area, during which key operational matters, project performance and priorities for further strengthening mining operations were discussed.
