New Delhi: The latest traffic data submitted by various domestic airlines showcased a remarkable surge in the number of passengers carried by them, reaching 503.92 lakhs, said the Ministry of Civil Aviation on Tuesday. Further, the statement said that this figure represents a substantial annual growth of 42.85 percent when compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, which recorded 352.75 lakh passengers.

The statement also highlighted that the significant increase in the number of passengers reflects the robustness and resilience of India's aviation industry, showcasing ongoing efforts to enhance connectivity and provide convenient travel options to citizens. The surge in figures indicates a growing demand for air travel and highlights the positive trajectory of the aviation sector, it added.

Month-on-month (MoM) growth rate between Apr 2022 & Apr 2023 has risen by 22.18%

Moreover, the month-on-month (MoM) growth rate between April 2022 and April 2023 has risen by 22.18 percent, underscoring the sustained momentum of the domestic airline industry, said the statement. This consistent growth is attributed to the collective efforts of airlines, airports, and the Ministry of Civil Aviation in fostering a safe, efficient, and customer-centric aviation ecosystem, it added.

Overall cancellation rate of scheduled domestic flights remained low at 0.47%

Notably, the overall cancellation rate of scheduled domestic flights for the month of April remained impressively low at 0.47 percent, the statement indicated. Additionally, the number of complaints per 10,000 passengers carried during the same month was reported at a low rate of approximately 0.28. These achievements can be attributed to meticulous planning, operational efficiency, and proactive measures implemented by the Ministry of Civil Aviation and airlines, despite the two-year COVID-19 slowdown, ensuring a seamless travel experience for passengers.
