New Delhi: Coal India Limited (CIL) has received an order from GRIDCO Limited for setting up a battery energy storage system (BESS) project, the company said in a regulatory filing to the stock exchanges on Thursday. The order has been awarded by GRIDCO Limited, Odisha, which is a domestic entity, Coal India said in its filing submitted to stock exchanges under Regulation 30 of SEBI (LODR) Regulations, 2015.

Project to be executed across two clusters in Odisha

The company has received a “Letter of Award for Setting up of 320 MWh (80 MW for 4 hours) BESS Plant in two Clusters. Cluster-1 at Padampur and Bolangir @ Rs. 3.04 lakh/ MW/Month tariff. Cluster-2 at Bhatli and Basta @ Rs. 3.05 lakh/ MW/Month tariff,” said the document.

Execution timeline set at 18 months

Coal India said the project is to be executed within “18 months from signing of BESPA.” The filing added that the company is required “to submit required documents as per LOA within 20 Days and thereafter signing BESPA. Submission of PBG by CIL.”

The order involves a capacity of “80 MW/ 320 MWh” with an “Estimated project cost: Rs 400 cr.”
