CIL’s coal production increased 9.18 percent to 53.50 MT in September FY2026-27, compared with 49 MT in the same month of the previous fiscal.

Q2 supplies rise 12.04%

On a quarter-on-quarter basis, CIL’s coal supplies during the second quarter of FY2026-27 stood at 186.04 MT, registering a 12.04 percent increase over the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal.

Supplies to the power sector during Q2 rose 11 percent to 148.20 MT, compared with 133.50 MT in the year-ago period. Coal production during the quarter increased 3.81 percent to 151.37 MT, against 145.82 MT in Q2 of the previous financial year.

CIL said the operational momentum recorded during September and Q2 FY2026-27 positions the company to pursue its production and supply targets and continue contributing to the country’s energy security.

With the monsoon season over, coal production is expected to gain further momentum, along with supplies. For the current fiscal, CIL has been assigned a coal production target of 815 MT and a supply target of 850 MT.
