The event will be attended by Union Coal and Mines Minister G. Kishan Reddy and Minister of State for Coal and Mines Satish Chandra Dubey, along with senior ministry officials including Coal Secretary Vikram Dev Dutt.

According to the ministry, the roadshow aims to accelerate the development of a robust coal gasification ecosystem in the country by bringing together policymakers, industry leaders, investors, technology providers and financial institutions.

The scheme is aimed at supporting India’s target of gasifying 100 million tonnes of coal by 2030 and is expected to reduce dependence on imports of LNG, urea, ammonia and methanol while strengthening the country’s energy security.

The ministry said the initiative is likely to mobilise investments worth Rs 2.5 lakh crore to Rs 3 lakh crore and generate nearly 50,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities across around 25 projects in coal-bearing regions.

It added that utilisation of 75 million tonnes of coal and lignite under the scheme could generate annual revenue of nearly Rs 6,300 crore, apart from additional downstream revenue through GST and other levies.

The ministry noted that the new scheme builds upon the National Coal Gasification Mission launched in 2021 and the Rs 8,500-crore coal gasification schemes approved in January 2024, under which eight projects are already under implementation.
