New Delhi: Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL), India’s leading shipbuilding and maintenance company, has announced that it has secured a mega order from a prominent European client for the design and construction of six feeder container vessels, each with a capacity of approximately 1,700 TEUs.
A Letter of Intent (LoI) for the project has been signed on Tuesday, marking a major milestone for CSL in the international shipbuilding market. The formal shipbuilding contract, detailing the techno-commercial terms, will be executed in due course, the company informed in a regulatory filing to the sock exchanges.
The vessels, to be powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG), align with the global push toward greener maritime transport solutions. CSL said that none of its promoters, promoter group, or group companies have any interest in the entity that awarded the order, and the transaction does not fall under the purview of related party dealings.
As per CSL’s classification, a Mega order refers to those valued at over Rs 2,000 crore.
