The refinery, developed on a technology platform provided by Chempolis OY, is designed to produce 49,000 tonnes per annum (TPA) of bioethanol, 11,000 TPA of acetic acid, and 19,000 TPA of furfural from raw bamboo feedstock. EIL has undertaken the project in EPCM mode directly from the demonstration stage.

EIL said the milestone marks a significant achievement in its six-decade journey of supporting India’s energy infrastructure. The biorefinery is expected to serve as a benchmark for India’s biofuel programmes by not only augmenting ethanol supply for the transportation sector but also enabling the production of value-added chemicals from by-products.
