EIL, CSIR-IMMT sign MoU to strengthen collaboration in critical mineral

New Delhi: Engineers India Limited (EIL) on Friday said that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the CSIR-Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology (CSIR-IMMT), Bhubaneswar, to collaborate on the development of indigenous technologies and strengthen India's capabilities across the critical and strategic minerals value chain.

The agreement has been signed on Friday by EIL's Director (Technical) Rajiv Agarwal and CSIR-IMMT's Director Dr Ramanuj Narayan in the presence of EIL's Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) Atul Gupta, CSIR-IMMT's Head of Business Development & Centre of Excellence Dr Kali Sanjay, and senior officials from both organisations at EIL's headquarters in New Delhi.

Under the MoU, the two organisations will jointly identify, evaluate and undertake research and development initiatives in the field of critical and strategic minerals. The collaboration will also focus on the exchange of technical expertise, capacity-building programmes, technology scale-up, and the execution of pilot-scale as well as commercial deployment projects.

EIL, a public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, provides engineering consultancy services across sectors including oil and gas, refining, petrochemicals, ferrous and non-ferrous metals, fertilisers, infrastructure and renewable energy.

While CSIR-IMMT is a constituent laboratory of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) engaged in mineral processing, extractive metallurgy and materials engineering research, and has been recognised as a Centre of Excellence for Critical Minerals under the National Critical Mineral Mission.
